No School for the big kids!

Today the older 3 did not have school. Mary did!

I thought that I would get Mary up and tip toe out of the house not to wake up the other 3 but.... I was wrong. MARY decided to stand in the upstairs loft area and sing her beautiful song~ which woke up all of the sleeping beauties and the beast!HA,HA!

So....I took Mary to school and ALL of the kids had to come along. I think that they really thought that it was cute how much she loves school and they could not wait to take part in this! She looked adorable and went off to her class and told her siblings " Only Daddy and I have to work and make $$ today"! She just cracks me up!

Happy Friday! Here's to a great weekend!

P.S. Next weekend is Homecoming at Henry Clay High School and we are hearing some talk in the house about attending the game and the dance (with girl friend of course)!

Mary.....how does your garden grow?

Mary had another great day at pre-school.

She experienced her 1st fire drill! She said that a man's voice came over the speaker and said "emergency" but there was no man around! Then they had to go and sit on the "curve"(I think she meant curb)!

She was the calender girl and she told me that today was September 24th. I am so impressed with her memory and all of the details that she shares with me regarding school!

Okay....now the Mary how does your garden grow. She and her class went on a nature walk. They made backpacks out of a brown paper sack cut off and a string attached. It is very cute. Then she was able to pick up all sorts of nature. Her most favorite item was a long seed pod that had fallen off of a tree. She could not wait to get home to "plant her Tree"!! She got out the shovel and dug a hole and then placed the seed pod inside and covered it up! Last but not least, she watered her tree with her watering can!

She had a great time!

We will keep a watch for "MARY'S TREE"! We will post some pictures when her tree grows BIG!!

All is Quiet

This has been a really peacful, non-eventfull week.

Noelle, Ethan and Lauren have no school on Friday but, Mary does have school. She thinks it is so neat that she will be at school and the kids will be home. I am so glad that she feels that way, I only hope her LOVE of school will remain for a while and not be destroyed by the other kids opinion on school!

Not much new! Hope that all is well for everyone!

Take Care!

It's the Weekend!

The weather is gorgeous outside and the kids are all inside.

Noelle just returned from volunteering at a Diabetes Walk. She, as a freshman, is required to fulfill 20 hrs. of community service. Noelle and her friend Kayla got up early this morning to help with registration at this event.

Lauren and Mary are playing "House and School". Mary informed us that she is now married to Troy (High School Musical)...ahhhh..... poor Kevin. Looks like Mary has moved on. Lauren is a really good sport. She plays so nice with Mary and is VERY patient with her.

Ethan is bored and keeps wondering around playing his guitar.

Chris and I are going out with some neighbors tonight to one of our favorite places. So this will be fun. Good friends, Good food!!

Hope that everyone has a great and relaxing weekend.

Fallen Tree ~GONE~ YEAH!!!!

Just a tiny update( that we are thrilled about). The top half of the old Black Locust Tree that fell on top of the kids swing set is now GONE! I am so thankful for the wonderful McGee Springs Lawn Service. These guys are the best...and work really hard!

After some inspection, I think that we will be able to save and repair the swing set. Mary REALLY misses being able to use it. In fact, I think it appears structurally safe so I might just go ahead and let her swing on it. Unfortunately there will be NO sliding~ the slide was trashed!

Anyway, It is wonderful to have the backyard cleaned up and ready for more play!

Happy Wednesday!

**Tomorrow is Grandma (North) Burhop's 98 Birthday! Isn't that amazing. She has been blessed with wonderful health but recently, she has hit a bump in the road. She is home once again and beginning the regain her strength . Please keep her in your prayers and wish her a happy 98th birthday!

Guitar Lessons and a "Cookie Date"

Monday means......Guitar lessons for Ethan at Lexington's downtown YMCA and for the lucky lady who gets to accompany Chris....a walk, downtown tour of historic homes and streets or a fountain tour or the best of all ....a cookie date.

Tonight was for lucky lady Mary. She was so tired after a morning at school and playing outside all afternoon by her new favorite play place ~the fallen tree. Anyways, Chris said that she could go along with him and she jumped at the chance.

She loves to go with Chris anywhere...her favorite by far~Starbucks for her "cookie date". She gets to sit at a table in Starbucks with her dad and drink a hot chocolate and eat a cookie. Tonight she got a frosted cookie and she called me and asked if I could see her cookie and then wanted me to describe her cookie to her. I think that she may be on to something....maybe soon we will all be carying a "live"
3D cell phone. Wow....I hope not. I still value my privacy at the end of the phone receiver.

So when they returned home both Ethan and Mary had big smiles on their faces and a Vanilla Latte for me! Ethan's guitar teacher may be selling him an electric guitar. Ethan has been really wanting one for a while now. He is the neighborhood dog sitter and has saved quite a bit to purchase an electric guitar. He loves playing his guitar and has really gotten good over the past 9 months.

And Mary....she was thrilled to have time alone with her dad! She adores him. All of our kids adore him... I adore him! We are blessed to have him.

Happy Monday....Have a great week. We are off to a good start here.

P.S. Tree update.....it is leaving our backyard tomorrow. Hopefully!

.Chris and Jason tried to saw it this afternoon. It is a black locust and it would not cut! Let's hope that the guys have a more powerful saw tomorrow!

Sunday....Wind Damage

We came home from church today and here is what we found. I am SO sad~ The swingset survived the move and rebuild only to be taken out by a big old tree in our backyard.

On the good side, I am thankful that the kids we not outside playing on or near this when it happened! I am also happy that the tree top fell where it did. If it had fallen straight down he would have been headed toward our house.

School Girl

Mary had a full week of Pre-School this week and she LOVED it. I am so shocked by her! She has been the easiest of our 4 children to adapt to school.

She is growing up so fast and Loving life!! She is constantly dancing, singing and dressing up and pretending to be someone else!

So here are a few more pictures of her.

Grandma these are for you!

Mary sends her love!

Princess Maryweather

I used my 3 hours of free time wisely today and went to my favorite HomeGoods store. I didn't find anything for the home but I did find this gorgeous "Halloween" dress for Mary. She thinks she is a princess from Barbie and the Diamond Castle. Of course this is her new favorite movie right now!

Just wait Aunt Laura, some day all of these dress up dresses will belong to Carly! She will be a girly girl!!

Have a good weekend!

Ahhh.....walking on air!!

Lauren went back to the orthopedic doctor today and had her cast removed. She had another x-ray. It showed that the healing process has begun. The doctor put her in a walking "air cast". This will encourage new bone growth and expedite the healing process. She is to wear this and begin to walk on it. She is in this at least another 4 weeks but it sounds like it might be a little longer than that. She returns to the doctor in a month for another x-ray.

The best news is that yucky orange cast is now gone! She wanted to keep it until it was laying beside her on the table and she started to notice an unpleasant odor!! (that is putting it nicely)!! Wow~ YUK!!

She really wanted to keep Patrick Patterson's autograph so the nurse cut that out for her to take home!

Lauren was scared of the saw that was used to remove it. She had the Sweetest nurse who took it off and Lauren was laughing...it tickled.

So here are the photos to sum up this part of the Monkey Bar Mishap!!

Enjoy!

All done!! She was so happy we got to scrub her leg clean and even put on some Good smelling lotion (bath and body Plumera)!

Here today...gone tomorrow! ~Hopefully :)

Today is the last day that Lauren will be in her cast! She goes back to the ortho doctor tomorrow and he is going to take the cast off and x-ray her leg to see if it has healed enough for a walking cast! Hopefully, that will be the case!

We are so proud of Lauren! She has really adapted well to being in a cast and she has not complained~ not even once! She has been a really great patient!

So keep her in your prayers!

Hopefully, we will be able to post a new updated photo tomorrow!

By the way~ Mary informed me that when she breaks her leg she is getting a purple cast! Let's hope not!!

*Patriotic Mary*

Today was Mary's 3rd day school! She LOVES it!

It was "wear your red, white & blue" day! She learned a lot today! She told me that she learned about presidents and "did I know that they live in a White House?"

She made a cute flag out of red construction paper. Her hand prints,(white paint) where the stripes and her fingerprints were the stars! It was really cute!

We are so thrilled that she is doing so well adjusting to school! She is really a big girl now! (As hard as that is for me to believe)

Hope that everyone else had a great Monday as well!

Love and Miss you all or Ya'll!
Lisa

Sunday Afternoon Jumping.....

There are two girls in our house who adore jumping rope! Mary and Lauren.

In fact recently Lauren had to write about her favorite toy in school. Can you guess what it was???? Maybe her purple motor scooter, NO...her i-pod,NO....her nintendo ds,NO. She said that it was her jump rope. We were so happy to hear this! It's so refreshing to see one of our kids love the simple (cheaper) things in life!

Okay so Mary has been fascinated with us swinging the rope for her. Now she can jump up to 16. And now we are starting the chant...Cinderella, dressed in yella.... and the good old teddy bear, teddy bear! Anyway, yesterday she decided to try jumping on her own.

Well it was not too long before Lauren just HAD to try to jump rope WITH her cast on!

So here are the photos to share!

Enjoy!!

Okay.....we also let her ride her scooter!!

Mary's First Day of Pre-School!

Today, Mary attended her first day of pre-school.

She woke up so extremely happy and ready for her first day of school. She ate breakfast with Ethan and Mom.....and guess what she had~Grandma's favorite cereal (aka...grape nuts crunch).

She entertained Ethan with her "first day of school song" sung in a crazy voice. He was laughing so hard, it was a great way to start his day!
We arrived at her school and she walked happily into her school and down the hall to her classroom. She saw the children in the room playing with blocks and barbies and reading books and she froze. She became a little teary eyed and a bit apprehensive but with the help of her kind new teacher she did just fine!!

I am so proud of this sweeet little girl and I just love her to pieces! Mary, I am so proud of you! You are a big girl now!!

When I picked her up~ she was beaming she loved school! She cannot wait until her next day of school. In fact she said " I wish that I could go every day"! Wow....did that surprise me but, I am thrilled that she has seemed to adjust so well and that she is doing just fine without me!!

Here's to hoping that Friday only gets better!

Have a great day!
